Dress Code

- Any solid color polo shirt (specific school colors are red, blue, and light gray/white)

- Any solid colored short/long sleeve button-down collared shirt

- Shirts must be tucked into belt

- Blue jeans with no holes, tears, embellishments or fading

- Navy blue, gray, black, or khaki school uniform pants, shorts (shorts must reach top of knee), skirts or jumpers (hems must at least reach the top of the knee)

- Pants, shorts and skirts must be worn close to the natural waist or slightly above and belted.

- Leggings/stockings may be worn under an appropriate length dress/skirt. They must be neutral colors and not distracting.

- Classroom sweaters and jackets (may beworn in the building and in class)

Approved styles: Solid colored sweaters, cardigans, fleece vests, and hoodless fleece jackets.

Sweatshirts and jackets with hoods may not be worn in the building. Styles that are cut like a midriff may not be worn. Outerwear (including hoodies and sweatshirts) is to be left in lockers or hung on hooks and may not be worn in the building.

- Belts should be neutral with no embellishments

- Shoes must have closed toes, and backs

- No high heels in 6th grade and under

- Heels may be no more than 2” for 7th/8th grade girls

- Socks and leggings/tights worn under dresses/skirts must be neutral colored and not distracting.

- Hair should be clean, neat, a natural hair color, and not distracting

- Jewelry should be simple, tasteful, and not distracting

- Piercings are allowed in ear lobe only

- Other visible body piercings are not allowed

- Make-up should be modest and minimal (7th grade girls and above only)

- Students should practice good hygiene.

- Hats may be worn during outside PE and recess only (Safety Patrol hats may be worn to class if a student is actively on Safety Patrol.

- No facial hair except sideburns. Sideburns may be grown level with the bottom of the ear lobe.

- Boys may not wear pierced jewelry of any kind

- Hats may be worn during outside PE and recess only (Safety Patrol hats may be worn to class if a student is actively on Safety Patrol.)

- Students should practice good hygiene.

PreK3, PreK4, and K5 students do not need to wear belts. We encourage parents to work with PreK4 and K5 students to aid their children to develop the needed skills to be ready to wear a belt in First grade. Students in these grades should have one extra change of clothes including underwear and shoes in their backpacks.

Students will dress in a clean, neat, modest, and appropriate manner for all field trips. Students must wear school uniforms on field trips unless otherwise designated by school administration or their teacher. The field trip permission form will specify the appropriate attire for that trip. Students should be prepared for inclement weather on field trips. Coats, boots, hats, gloves, or rain gear may be needed.

Teachers may allow students to wear “Casual Day Attire” such as UBCA T-shirts and jeans to field trips.

Casual Attire is meant for Fridays and consists of a UBCA T-Shirt and jeans and a nice hat. Students who do not have a UBCA T-Shirt, must wear their normal school attire, but they may wear a nice hat with no offensive logos.

Formal attire for girls should be business style slacks/pants, dresses, or skirts and a nice blouse.

- Skirts and dresses must reach the knee when standing and when sitting.

- No part of a student’s outfit may be see through, show undergarments, be excessively tight, or be excessively loose.

- Styles that show the midriff or reveal undergarments will not be approved and a student may either be asked to change or may not be allowed to participate in the activity.

- Jeans are not to be worn for a formal event unless otherwise designated.

- Dress pants or slacks may be worn.

- Belts must be worn in First Grade and above.

- Leggings may not be worn stand alone as pants, but may be worn under a skirt or dress that reaches the knee.

- No hats may be worn.

Formal attire for boys should be neat and professional business style slacks/pants and a nice shirt (a tie is optional unless otherwise designated, but is recommended).

- No part of a student’s outfit may be see through, show undergarments, be excessively tight, or be excessively loose.

- Styles that reveal undergarments will not be approved and a student may either be asked to change or may not be allowed to participate in the activity.

- Jeans are not to be worn for formal events unless otherwise designated.

- Belts must be worn in First Grade and above.

- No hats may be worn.

Students 4th grade and up should wear the following for PE class:

- Red, gray, black, royal blue, or navy-blue, loose-fitting T-shirt (or UBCA T-shirts)

- Shirts may not be too tight, overly loose, see through, or a midriff style

- Black or navy loose fitting athletic pants or shorts (shorts for both boys and girls must come to the knee and must be loose like basketball shorts)

- Pants must be loose like wind pants.

- Leggings and legging styled shorts may not be worn as pants or shorts during PE

- Clothing should be logo free. Very minimal brand logos may be approved.

- Socks and non-marking athletic shoes

Students not in PE Dress Code may be asked to change the first time they are out of code and a Dress Code Communication Form will be sent home. Subsequent PE Dress Code Violations will result in a Dress Code Communication Form sent home and may also result in a detention.

Winter clothing may be worn outside only. Winter clothing (including hoodies and sweatshirts) should be left in the lockers or hung in hallways to minimize clutter. If boots are worn, shoes should be available to change into while in the building.

Dress code for specific events like hiking trips or water activities will be announced in advance of the event.
